Planning your dream day shouldn't involve copy and pasting colors from the internet nor should it be a stressful experience. We believe each wedding should be planned with intention and love - bespoke from start to finish. We believe that elevated experiences don't have to be stuffy and beautiful design should be approachable and welcoming. We believe in a collaborative approach so no personal touch is missed. We can't wait to tell your story and plan your happily ever after.
I believe a wedding should be an exceptional experience for you and your guests. From the sun setting behind the Blue Ridge Mountain range for a ceremony to a luxe, marble lined DC ballroom for the reception, what I love most about weddings is bringing each couples love story to life in their wedding design. The possibilities are endless and the personal touches each of my clients brings to their wedding day always end up being my favorite elements no matter where they are.
A drink? One person only? No. It would have to be dinner with Martha Stewart, Mark Cuban, David Bowie or Dave Chappelle with post-meal drinks and a wild ride through whichever city we are in. Bonus points if it's all of them together at once. What a journey that would be.
If I'm not traveling, I start with a great playlist. A cappuccino (or 2), a long walk with my dogs Bear and Smalls, painting or reading a good book and ending with good bourbon fireside and a golden sunset while cooking something cozy. Outside of events, you can usually find me on a balcony in Europe, sipping an aperitif and trying to learn as many words in a new language as I can!
1. I'm an animal lover and dog mom through and through. 2. I'm an oil painter and have been painting since I was a kid! 3. I appreciate beautiful design, intimate moments and living an intentional life above most things. I get inspiration from traveling the world, exploring beautiful architecture, fashion, and culture and try to translate the love story of a couple into design in a way that feels intimate, sentimental and extraordinary.
The one person you would want to be stuck in an elevator with. Dependable. The hardest worker. The "get it done" er.
After years of working non-profit fundraising events, Moriah started working at Oatlands Historic House and Gardens as Event Director and fell in love with running weddings. Three years later, she decided to leave the venue side of the wedding business and start planning full time. With over ten years planning events, she is still loving everything about event planning, from the smallest logistical detail to the smiles of her clients, she can't get enough.
It would definitely be John Wayne. He had such an incredible life and was a genuinely great guy.
When not traveling all of Virgina and beyond working on events, Moriah lives in Chincoteague, VA with her husband Jon and their two amazing dogs, Jet and Maybe. Her favorite things to do include sitting on the beach with a good book, doing puzzles with a good cup of coffee, and snuggling on the couch with her puppies and a good glass of whiskey or wine. She is currently working to renovate her 100 year house on Chincoteague to bring it back to its former beauty. This is why she doesn't like to do video calls, she has to wash off all the paint and sawdust to look decent.
She loves her dogs more than anything! They are the best part of her day, everyday. (Her husband comes in a close second.)
She does not like cupcakes. Cake is a messy crumbly food that is typically eaten in front of people and you always end up with frosting on your fingers and/or nose and crumbs everywhere. "Just give me a fork and let me eat cake like it is supposed to be eaten!"
She doesn't use Instagram. She has tried and failed. When in the moment, she always forgets to take photos, she just likes to experience what is happening.
The One Moment Events Team knocked it out of the park. They were so prepared for everything throughout the planning process and the days leading up to our wedding. They were so communicative and helpful. The entire team is FIRE. I loved everyone's sense of humor and their true professionalism. Almost all of our vendors were hand-picked recommendations from the TOME team, which boosted our confidence. Our wedding was beautiful and we would not have been able to do it without Rachel and the TOME team. They are the DREAM TEAM!
Working with The One Moment Events was the single most important (and best) decision I made during my wedding planning process. We selected a unique and grand location that had never hosted a wedding before, but Rachel and her team handled every single aspect with ease. The team was so invested in us as a couple, getting to know us and our story, our vision for the day and curated a design and plan that truly reflected us as a couple. Supporting us every step of the way, the team recommended the majority of our vendors and communicated our desires flawlessly with them. I was completely at ease on my wedding day, knowing that the TOME team had handled every detail. My day was flawless. I couldn't imagine a better team than The One Moment Events.
I wish I could sing Rachel and her team's praises from the rooftops. TOME is organized, knowledgable, responsive - and above all, so much fun to work with! They all have a great sense of humor! In addition to executing our wedding seamlessly, Rachel and her team were an amazing resource throughout the planning process to bounce ideas around with, having a super creative and amazing sense of what will look good and flow well. Rachel took the time to understand our vision with each vendor recommendation and was so patient walking us through the planning process and answering our questions. We never once felt worried or stressed. There was nothing I felt could challenge or disrupt Rachel's quick resolves or patience throughout the day. Everything was perfect!
After speaking on the phone for an hour to chat about my vision and listen to her work process, I knew Rachel and her team at The One Moment Events were the ones. What I didn't know was just how integral a part of my wedding they would become. We had an issue with our caterer backing out 5 months before our wedding, and within 24 hours, Rachel had 3 contracts for other caterers to me. Amazing. The team even helped the photographer set up some of our favorite images throughout the wedding night. Rachel and her team's energy and enthusiasm for the service they offer is really why I value them. My family and I still talk about how amazing TOME was on our wedding day. Rachel even got a shout out during my Father's speech! She is the reason my wedding was so flawless.
Always there with a kind word and encouragement. The hype squad. Thoughtful. Cunningly witty. Great hair.
Kayla was born and raised in VA and is a former bride of Rachel's! She's a wannabe runner, ice cream enthusiast, beach bum at heart (OBX) and a proud dog momma to Porter! She also oversees undergraduate domestic recruitment at a local college.
Running, cooking my way through Claire Saffitz's new book Dessert Person, Snuggling Porter, board games with my husband, watching a lot of bad TV, and spending time with my people as much as I possibly can.
Booty Wurk by T-pain is my forever hype song (people are truly sleeping on T-pain. He has an incredible voice - NPR tiny desk concert (if you haven't watched). Huge fan of weddings with lots of ring bearers and flower girls (we had 4 of each in our wedding. Never met a grandma I didn't fall in love with.
Attention to details, the note-taker, the follow-upper and the one that all the parents love
Emme is our Charlottesville liaison where she lives with her husband and dog, Olive. Although her favorite places to visit are Maine, Canada & Italy. She loves a good road trip - has checklist, will travel!
Chocolate lover, Halloween fanatic and all things Christmas are her favorites. Emme used to do aerial trapeze which is how she bends over backwards for her clients!
Such a hard question! I definitely would love to grab a drink with my Papa who passed away - he always made the best jokes and I love that I inherited his ability to find the fun in life. I'd also love to have a few drinks with Reese Witherspoon, Lauren Graham, and Melissa McCarthy for a ton of laughs and some good conversation. Followed, of course, by a fabulous multi course meal by Gordon Ramsay."
start my mornings by listening to music while I make a frothy cappuccino. I always try to get moving and get outside on a run or a long walk with my husband and my dog, Olive. If it's summer, we're hiking and relaxing in Maine as much as possible and if it's fall or winter, I can be found decorating our home and baking while enjoying a movie! I love to spend time volunteering at animal shelters and traveling with my family. My days end by cooking up a favorite recipe or trying a new one from one of the many cookbooks I love to collect. The good days end with homemade dessert - preferably with chocolate!
I love everything about the wonderful holiday season from Halloween to Christmas, I've been lucky enough to visit Maine every summer of my life, and I did Aerial Trapeze for years and love to do it any chance I get.
Margot was an unofficial member of the TOME family years before joining the TOME team while working at one of the premier wedding venues in Leesburg. Margot is clever, quick-witted and loves to guide her clients through the planning and design process with a sense of style, a sense of humor and a desire to plan the best weddings ever! With her outgoing and wild spirit, she has a keen eye for design and loves, love.
My ideal days off typically consist of a trip to the farmers market, taking my pups (Harper & Addie) to the dog park, some winery hopping, and ending the night with a glass of bourbon and homemade pizza with my husband.
I am super sarcastic with a dry sense of humor, my dogs are the bane of my existence while simultaneously being the absolute loves of my life, and I'm a 2020 COVID bride so I am a master at creating Plan B, C, D and E for any event.
Sweet summer simplicity and a garden inspired aesthetic was the essence of Amy and Blakes big day. From the sunken garden ceremony to their sun-kissed cocktail hour on the lawn to dinner and dancing under the string lights that mimicked the stars, there was a bit of Virginia magic that was a part of each special piece.
Christine and Jason are F-U-N and wanted to incorporate their vivacious nature, favorite hobbies and special interests in their big day! We started with the essence of their favorite speakeasy in DC, threw in references to pop culture icons like Doctor Who and Harry Potter and tied it all together under a ballroom lit up like a starry night inspired by Vincent Van Gogh. With bold design and a sonic screwdriver exit, this was an unforgettable wedding!
Grace and Ben are two extraordinary people with an extraordinary love. The engagement started with a snowy sledding hill, an adventure book inspired by the movie, "Up" and a ring. With nods to the Kentucky Derby, a specialty bourbon bar for Ben and tons of sweet details that still make this a forever favorite design. This wedding was as bright, and cheerful as they come!
A midsummer garden party in the couples own beautifully manicured backyard garden, live music by special guests, the closest friends and family and a beautiful sunny, summer day. A love story for the ages and an english garden design so fresh and fragrant it kept the dancing going well into the night.
