When I sat down to write the draft of this blog post to keep it in the queue of things to do the only thing I wrote was

“literally everything is magic”

Which is in part very true. Zoe and Marks wedding was one of the most fun, enchanting, magical weddings I’ve been a part of. Even though technically they were already married…I’ll get to that in a second.

When Zoe and Mark came to me they lived in the Philippines, which if you didn’t know is 13 hours ahead of Washington DC. This made communication throughout their planning process a bit difficult meaning lots of super early or super late Skype meetings and phone calls. But even though there were literally oceans between us they were the absolute sweetest couple which made the planning process fun and relatively stress-free! 

Let’s start with Zoe and Mark-these two are incredibly smart, funny, kind and kind of badass. Both are crossfit athletes with Zoe even competing in Australia during the wedding planning process! They have two pups named Xena and Conan (and if you get that reference we are already friends) and both have a laidback, relaxed and fun attitude towards life and towards their wedding day.

Here’s the thing, Zoe and Mark were actually already married, as their officiant and friend, Adam, jokingly put it: “3 years ago in a DC basement”. While details on that are hazy, this was meant to be more of a celebration of their love and a chance for their friends and family to celebrate them together. They could not have picked a more perfect place or date to do either! 

Even though Zoe and Mark were both in DC before they left, their wedding was held hours away in a little coastal town tucked between Chincoteague and Virginia Beach at Blue Skye Lavender Farm. The lavender farm is owned by Zoes aunt and all around cool person, Lisa, and the farm was even featured on Martha Stewart Living! There isn’t much in the small town but it exudes charm and peacefulness. The farm itself has several acres and sits back off the country road on an estuary that feeds right off the Atlantic ocean. Lisa bought the farm 14 years ago as a blank plot of land and over the years has planted lush vegetation, sprawling gardens and several small cottage buildings to create an oasis away from her busy life in Bethesda. The farm proved to be the perfect backdrop to Zoe and Marks wedding day and 

Once the sun set it was time to PARTY! John the dj started jammin tunes and we turned on the fairy lights around the property to guide guests through the labyrinth of gardens. As you can see below, Janessa and I were looking for recommendations for the next song for John to play because clearly we know how to get a party started.
