Meghan and Spencer picked a perfect fall day for their wedding. When we first met, Meghan and her mom, Anne, had already found a venue and a date and we had scheduled a meeting to tour the property and discuss all of the options for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Call it planners intuition, but since we hadn’t received the counter-signed contract back from the venue yet, I had another venue tour lined up nearby as a “just in case”.
Upon touring the property, the venue owner actually came out and told us that even though they had signed a contract and left a deposit, their venue was actually not theirs anymore! It was a very intense situation and devastating for Meghan and her mom, but I was so thankful for our backup plan. When we toured and ultimately chose Tranquility Farm, it turned out to be the perfect backdrop for their entire wedding weekend.
Sometimes in planning, you meet a family who you adore more than anything and wish that everyone could be exactly like them, this is Meghan and her family and Spencer and his family. While planning, Meghan had a few “rustic fall” ideas and mom wanted an elevated celebration. As we went through the design deck, we wanted to honor both of their wishes so we started with a sailcloth tent and full wooden flooring with a ceremony up on the hillside overlooking the rolling hills and farm valleys of Loudoun County.
To bring a little bit of edge, we incorporated some modern black and white patterned linens into the cocktail hour patio next to the largest silo in Purcellville that acted as a place for guests to explore, or grab a drink and take a seat.
We enlisted the incomparable Holly Chapple to create a bright fall floral theme hand-picked from her very own farm.
We created conversation spaces outside and inside the tent for guests to gather, reminisce and celebrate the couple.
Just before we brought guests into the tent, they were greeted with a growing display of hand-lettered lanterns that showed them to their seats.
After a fabulous dinner by Susan Gage, guests danced the night away before shuttles whisked them away to their hotels.
There’s something about a crisp October day in Virginia that makes weddings feel extra magical. Meghan and Spencer’s celebration at Tranquility Farm in Purcellville, VA was the perfect mix of rustic charm and elevated romance — complete with sweeping hilltop views, luxe design details, and a cozy autumn atmosphere their guests will never forget.
The wedding was filled with personal moments that made the day unforgettable. Meghan and Spencer shared their first look on the charming stone terrace, while Meghan’s first look with her father in front of the farm’s striking black barn brought everyone to tears.
Inside the reception tent, family photos created a warm and welcoming lounge space. Guests were also treated to a thoughtful detail at their tables: a fruit and cheese plate with fresh baguette, a creative and personal twist in place of the typical bread basket.
Fashion that Fit the Vibe
Meghan was radiant in a lace racerback gown, perfectly complemented by her bridesmaids in sleek black dresses. Spencer looked sharp in a charcoal suit with burgundy accents, while his groomsmen carried the theme in grey suits with matching red ties. The look was effortlessly stylish and in tune with the romantic, rustic fall vibe of the day.
A Hilltop Ceremony with a View
Guests gathered at the top of an open hill, overlooking the rolling farmland and iconic barn of Tranquility Farm. The ceremony aisle was lined with garden-inspired florals leading up to a stunning floral arch by Holly Chapple, setting the stage for Meghan and Spencer’s heartfelt vows. With the crisp fall air and vivid autumn light, the backdrop couldn’t have been more picturesque.
Cocktail Hour Beside the Silo
After the ceremony, friends and family enjoyed cocktail hour next to one of Loudoun County’s largest silos — a historic landmark with a story to tell (legend has it Jackie Kennedy once rode her horse across the property!). Guests mingled around chic lounge vignettes and striking black showpiece bars from Something Vintage Rentals, while enjoying bites and cocktails curated by Susan Gage Catering.
A Cozy and Colorful Reception
Inside a soaring sailcloth tent by Sugarplum Tent Company, guests were welcomed by a breathtaking canopy of greenery and twinkling lights. Rustic wooden farm tables were paired with Tuscan cross-back chairs, layered linens, and alternating grey and wood chargers, creating a warm yet refined tablescape. Vivid dahlias from Holly Chapple’s farm added bold pops of cabernet, mauve, blush pink, and moss green.
One of the evening’s most memorable touches? The seating chart — black glass lanterns, each hand-lettered with guests’ names and table numbers, glowing with candlelight for a cozy fall ambiance.
A Night of Celebration
As the band Affirmative Groove kicked off the evening, guests danced the night away under the twinkling canopy of lights. Between the music, the wine-inspired color palette, and the cozy autumn details, the night was filled with joy, laughter, and celebration.
Final Thoughts
Meghan and Spencer’s fall wedding at Tranquility Farm was more than just a beautiful celebration — it was a heartfelt gathering of family and friends, infused with thoughtful details and the couple’s love for one another. A special thank-you to Meghan’s mom, Anne, for trusting us to bring this vision to life. It was truly an honor to plan such a meaningful weekend.
