Sara and Onye came to me initially as a referral from one of the best photographers I know, Bakerture. Which meant I knew I would love them from the start. HOW much I would love them though, I didn’t know until I met them in person and realized how incredible they are!
When Sara & Onye came to me, Sara was working for a DC startup and Onye was at District Taco. Immediately we bonded over our love of dogs, 90s rap and similar sense of humor. Yeah, it’s true, these two tall, modelesque humans are also really really cool and really funny. I know it’s not fair to the rest of us, but at least we can be blessed in their presence, right?
That day it wasn’t calling for rain but suddenly when driving in the sky opened up and started to pour. We tried our best to have the ceremony outside but the weather was not cooperating so at the last minute we made the switch, brought the arch inside, scrambled to setup some VIP family rows and brought everyone inside the tent.
Not even the rain could put a damper on the joy and beauty of the day, which is primarily due to these two incredible people, their amazing sunny dispositions and the wonderful people they are surrounded by.
The vendor team was all on board to make things as amazing for them as possible because we all adored Sara and Onye! The flowers were lovely, the food was good and the party was LIT.
Sara was so classically beautiful and effortlessly stunning that it was easy to forget about the weather.
After dinner, which included a combination of Nigerian-inspired cuisine, the best man and maid of honor brought equal parts funny and sentimental in honor of this amazing couple.
After happy tears and a cake cutting, Sara and Onye snuck away to change into their traditional Nigerian attire. If you thought they stunned before, check them out now…
They came back to a packed dance floor and a traditional money dance and the energy level was incredible!! The party went on well into the night and ended with a flavored popcorn bar, cold brew coffee and hope that it would never end!
From start to finish, helping Sara and Onye put together their big day was an absolute joy and still one of my favorite weddings and 2 of my favorite people ever!
ALSO: The happiest of updates on this post, Sara & Onye just announced they are expecting a baby girl!!! That’s right! Baby Agu is on the way and it seems only appropriate that everyone in the world celebrate this momentous occasion!
Love you two and I cannot express my joy and happiness for this new addition to your family!!!
